€28.8 Million Announced for Irish Primary Schools

The €28.8 million announced on Tuesday the 5th of December is set to be paid out to all Primary Schools in the country next week.

 The breakdown of the payments per school are as follows:

  • A flat rate minor works grant of €5,500
  • An additional €18.50 per mainstream pupil
  • An additional €74 per special needs pupil

A school with a student population of 50 will net around €6,425 whereas a school with a population of over 300 will net €11,000.

 

Grant Uses

 Each primary school can use the grant for a variety of uses such as the following:

  1. Improvements to School Facilites and School Grounds
  2. Improving or replacing electrical or mechanical equipment
  3. Purchasing Primary School Furniture and Physical Education Equipment
  4. Floor covering and Blinds
  5. Purchasing of Information Technology equipment
